2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray: 2014 TickTickVroom Car of the Year

It’s officially TickTickVroom’s Second Anniversary.  I can’t believe we’ve turned 2!  I honor of our terrible twos, we thought we’d create the annual TickTickVroom Awards consisting of the TickTickVroom Car of the Year and TickTickVroom Watch of the Year.   Just to explain our process… Our anniversary falls on April 13.  So any car and any watch that comes to market between April 13ths is...

Corvette Museum Sinkhole Eats 8 Rare Corvettes (UPDATED)

Oh the calamity!  A 40-feet wide and 25- to 30-feet deep sink hole opened up this morning at 5:40 or so in the Skydome of The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Thankfully, no one was hurt since the sinkhole opened up like a gaping maw to hell at a ridiculously early hour of the morning.   However, the Corvette musuem sinkhole did eat 8 über rare Chevrolet Corvettes.  It’s hard not to look at the pictures...

2013 Year in Review… Cliche, Isn’t It…

So, not only did we survive December 21st, 2012, we’ve made it all the way through 2013.  HA!  Take that Mayans!  Now that it’s 2014 (2014, weird, isn’t it?), I thought I’d do the most cliché thing blog-ily possible.  This is a TickTickVroom.com 2013 Year in Review post.   2013 was a banner year for TTV… a new, fancy-schmancy website, a bunch of cool road and track tests (sooooo much fun) and some...

DRIVEN: 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray on the Track – Road Test Review

Ostensibly, I started TickTickVroom out of a deep appreciation for cars and watches.  But, while I may not have realized the truth of this statement at the outset, my true motivation for creating this site probably was to drive the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray… and to write this post.  I guess I should explain.   Yes, I know there are faster, more powerful cars out there.  But, none of them are so profoundly rooted in...

2014 Corvette Stingray Gets Up to 30 MPG

Chevrolet continues to give us drips and drops of info on the spectacular-on-paper 2014 Corvette Stingray.  We know it starts at $51,995 for the coupe and $56,995 for the convertible.  We know it has an 6.2 liter LT1 V8 that’s good for 455 to 460 horse and 460 to 465 lb-ft.  We know it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and can sustain 1.03 g in the corners.  And, we know among the first Stingrays produced will be 500...

Innotech Aspiron: Trackday Car with the Heart of a Corvette

The name Innotech may ring a bell.  No, it’s not the company from Office Space, that’s Initech and Initrode (damn Initrode).  It’s a Corvette tuning house that also happens to make supercars with Corvette hearts like the 800 horse 2010 Innotech Escalero.  Their latest project, the 2014 Innotech Aspiron is one part Corvette and one part Tramontana-style trackday chassis.  Innotech takes pretty much whatever Corvette...

2014 Corvette Stingray: 0-60 in 3.8 Seconds and 1.03 g Cornering [Video]

Way back in January when the 2014 Corvette Stingray debuted, Chevrolet promised it would be the best performing standard Corvette yet.  Then in April when Chevy announced the Stingray’s $51,995 price tag, they hinted at a sub-4 second 0-60 and cornering better than 1 g.  Our last hint at the Corvette Stingray’s performance came in May when we learned of the LT1 6.2 liter V8 and its 460 horses and 465 pound-feet of torque...

2013 Fort Lauderdale Great American Beach Party Muscle Car and Hot Rod Car Show

Classic American Muscle Cars and Hot Rods are a beautiful, beautiful thing, especially against the back drop of the Atlantic Ocean on a clear May day.  If you’re reading this article, you probably agree with me.  So, you can imagine my delight in attending the 2013 Fort Lauderdale Great American Beach Party car show on Fort Lauderdale Beach.  The Great American Beach Party is a car show for (you guessed it) American muscle cars...

2014 Corvette Stingray Is this Year’s Indy 500 Pace Car

For the 12th time a Chevrolet Corvette will be the Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500.  The 2014 Corvette Stingray will be leading the pace lap of the 97th Indy 500 on May 26th.  This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise as this is the 17th consecutive year that a General Motors car has sported the flashing yellow safety lights.  And, the new ‘Vette is certainly the highlight of the Chevy lineup. This Corvette Pace Car...
