Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario Edition: Photos and Specs [Updated]
About a month ago, Lamborghini debuted the 750 horse, 221 mph Veneno as part of their 50th Anniversary celebration. The only problem with the $4 million Veneno is Lamborghini is only making three, and they’re all sold out. So if you are absurdly wealthy and wanted a limited edition 50th Anniversary Lamborghini, you were out of luck.
Not wanting to disappoint the coutured masses, Lamborghini has leaked some photos and specs of the Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario Edition ahead of its official debut at the Shanghai Motor Show in a few days.
As the “LP720” in Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario Edition indicates, this particular Aventador will have a 6.5 liter V12 with 720 horses, a 20 hp bump over the “base” Aventador. The 0-62 sprint is still a sprint at 2.9 seconds, and the top speed is 217 mph. Those are awfully close performance figures to the Veneno. Apparently all 30 horses buy you is four more mph on the top end. A special carbon fiber aerodynamics kit is said to increase downforce of 50 percent over the LP700-4. Should be a blast on the track.
Lamborghini will only be producing 100 of the Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario Edition, all in a very bright yellow Giallo Maggio paint. Inside is a painfully bright yellow and black two-tone scheme to match the exterior. After the Veneno, the LP720-4 seems a bit tame. With only a small 50 Anniversario badge behind the rear wheel, I can’t help but feel this car should celebrate the big five-oh a bit more. The full details should come soon, but in the mean time, take a look at the photos. Do you think this is the best way for Lambo to celebrate their 50th?
