Jaeger-LeCoultre & Batman: A Match Made in Gotham

Dark Knight Rises Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso

What do Dark Knight Rises and Batman: Forever have in common?  I’ll give you a hint: It’s not Alfred’s dry wit.  Don’t worry, I’ll wait.  Google away.  Yeah, no the Batmobile in Batman: Forever was really lame, so that’s not it.  Give up?  Ok, it’s Jaeger-LeCoultre.  A Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso emblazoned with the Bat-logo to be exact.  Hmmm…a dual sided watch for a character with dual personalities.  Seems fitting.

Batman: Forever Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso

In 1995, Val Kilmer was the fifth actor to don the cowl in Joel Schumacher’s Batman: Forever.  But, as Bruce Wayne, seventeen years ago, Kilmer was the first to sport a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Grande Taille.  Kilmer’s Reverso came replete with an engraved Batman: Forever logo.  JLC produced a very limited run of 35 of these “Bat-Reversos” for sale.  They have since become very desired by watch collectors and Batman fans alike.

In 2005 Christian Bale became the seventh actor to play Batman.  He also carried on the tradition of strapping on a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso.  Bale’s, by the way, is a Reverso Chronograph.  Last week saw the release of the final film in the Christopher & Jonathan Nolan Batman trilogy, Dark Knight Rises.  In honor of this film, Jaeger-LeCoultre once again produced a Bat-logo engraved Reverso.  No word on whether this Batman’s Dark Knight Rises Reverso will be produced for sale by JLC, but it will be on display, along with Val Kilmer’s Reverso at Jaeger-LeCoultre boutiques ins Los Angeles, Geneva, London and Hong Kong.
