Death of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche with an Eary 911

Last week, on 5 April 2012, the car world lost one of the greats.  Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, grandson of Porsche founder, Ferdinand Porsche, died at the age of 76 in Salzburg, Austria. FA Porsche was the original designer of the iconic Porsche 911.  That the 911 hasn’t changed much in the past 50 years is a testament to the strength of FA Porsche’s design.  It is amazing that he lived to see the 50th year of the 911 go into production.  FA Porsche also is the creator of the venerable and revolutionary brand Porsche Design Studio in 1972.  Like Enzo Ferrari and Ferruccio Lamborghini, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche changed the car world and he will be missed.
